The CNC machine electrical wiring is complete! This week I finished all the panel wiring for the Centroid Acorn – Dyna Myte 2800 CNC retrofit. This included adding circuit breakers to the 24 Volt power circuits, wiring the interface cable between the DYN4 AC servo drive and the Acorn controller & adding a contactor and… Continue reading CNC Machine Electrical Wiring Complete!
This week I continue tinkering on our Centroid Acorn CNC mill retrofit by mounting the DMM 750 watt AC servo motor. This part of the project required modifying the existing step pulley bushing to fit the 86M-DHT 0.75kW AC Servo Motor 14mm shaft. A temporary adapter plate was also designed and 3D printed to enable… Continue reading Spindle Motor Adapter for CNC Mill Retrofit
Working on replacing the original spindle motor on my DynaMyte 2800 with a DMM DYN4 Servo System. Going to try a 750 Watt AC Servo Motor- the 86M-DHT from Dynamic Motor Motion. In this video I prepare the mill for installation of the new motor and rearrange the electrical panel for the DYN4 AC Servo… Continue reading DMM DYN4 Servo Spindle Retrofit
Reassembly begins on the Dyna Myte 2800 Centroid Retrofit. This week I start cleaning up some parts in preparation for reassembly. Ran a piece through the Purple Power, Evapo-rust and Oxpho-Blue combination.
Finally got to the bottom of my backlash issue. I was lulled into a false sense of security by the number of bearings I originally got out of the ball nut. Plus a few shout-outs to other YouTube channels.
This week I start looking into the backlash that seems to be present on the Y Axis of our Dyna Myte 2800 Centroid Acorn CNC retrofit. I tear apart the ball nut on the Y axis and repack the bearings.
This week I go through the steps necessary to get a computer ready for CNC use with Centroid Acorn. This involves going through the recommended Windows 10 tweaks and installing the CNC12 application. I take a look at inverting enable signals and fixing the IP address if not configured properly during setup.
Trying to push some production out the door this week and noticed an issue on our little X2 CNC machine. Replacing the spiral aluminum stepper motor – lead screw coupler with a jaw type coupler. This CNC is dedicated to machining aluminum electronic enclosures. As such I have made some modifications to it over the… Continue reading Sieg / Syil X2 CNC repair
This week I verified the voltage coming out of the stepper power supply then went on to hook the G251x stepper drive power wires up. Also added the current programming resistors and dove deep into the theory of operation on the rest of the electrical panel. I’m calling out for any info that can be… Continue reading Dyna Myte DM2800 Restoration Part #005
Continuing on with the wiring of the electrical panel for the Dyna Myte CNC machine. I primarily focused on getting the Gecko G251X drives wired up as well as some I/O on the Centroid Acorn board. I made up a custom DB25 breakout cable for the step and direction signals and the input points were… Continue reading Dyna Myte DM2800 Restoration Part #004
